VITAL Q & A
The International Human Genome Project was finally completed in 2003. This tremendous breakthrough opened the beginning of the genomic era, which signifies the USAGE of knowledge about our genes in our everyday life. This completely changed our understanding and vision of genetics. Until then, genetics had been mainly associated with severe inherited diseases.
Genetics is a very new discipline, which, however, regroups now different areas, what may provoke a frequent confusion. Genetics is original term. Genetics studies how traits are inherited; it focuses on single genes and cause of disease. Today genetics incorporates 2 main different fields:

Classical genetics: helpful tool for prenatal diagnostics and rare disease detection (cystic fibrosis; other monogenic and chromosome diseases, such as Downs syndrome, etc). Classical genetics is NOT used in anti-ageing medicine and personalised lifestyle advice.

NEW genetics: is the other rapidly developing discipline, born in the 1990s. It studies how our genes and their combinations (gene-gene; environment-gene interactions) are sensitive to environment (food, drugs, UV, stress, etc.).

Some examples of new genetics:
  • NUTRIgenetics: how the genes are sensitive to food. (e.g. Changes in LCT gene provoke lactose intolerance; changes in MTHFR gene indicate the increased necessity for folic acid, etc.).
  • ECOgenetics: how the genes are sensitive to ecological factors (toxins, pollution, UV, etc. – e.g.: white skin, which is a genetic factor, is very sensitive to UV and photo-aging).
Genomics was developed 21st century genetics, after completion of the International Human Genome project. Genomics is a broader term. Genomics represents parallel studies of all the genes AND gene products – result of gene expression (RNA, proteins) as the DYNAMIC system, over time, determining how they interact and influence biological pathways and physiology in a global sense. As opposed to a single gene study, genomics is the study of all the genes of a cell, or tissue, at the DNA (genotype), mRNA (transcriptome), or protein (proteome) levels.

In simple words: genOMICS studies – how our environment may influence our genes.
Some examples of genomics:
  • NUTRIgenOMICS: how food influences our genes and their activity (e.g.: tomato juice stimulates the detoxification genes, etc.).
  • ToxicogenOMICS: how the toxins influence our genes and their activity (e.g.: tobacco smoke stimulates tobacco induced genes (CYPs) and provokes increased synthesis of toxic molecules inside the body, following by increased oxidative stress and disease sensitivity).
Epigenetics/omics represent integrative studies of changes in gene expression and gene activities that occur without changes in the DNA code (Epi ="above"; greek).
Special attention is paid to integrative detailed analysis of environment-gene interactions and their influence on health. Epigenetics/omics is unique modern powerful preventive tool and reflects the basis of BARANOVA MONACO concept.
Prevention is good, but knowing what to prevent specifically to you, is much better. Modern personalised prevention represents the most powerful approach possible based on the synergies of genetic, lifestyle, nutritional, psychological, mental and electromagnetic data in relation to each person. The real breakthrough in this field happened in 2003, when the International Human Genome Project was finalised.
Our programmes and recommendations are not based on single gene testing, which is often the case. Our programmes are specifically designed according to the interactions between:
  • Environment – Gene (food-gene, micronutrient-gene, tobacco-gene, drug-gene, etc)
  • Gene – Gene
  • Epigenomic principles
This means that individual data (lifestyle, nutrition, existing illness, etc) is analysed simultaneously and interactively with genetic results, giving us the most advanced epigenomic approach possible.

Consequently, the comparison of revealed genetic potential (what we have) with current lifestyle and individual / clinical data (what we are), indicates which processes could be optimised and / or stimulated through the gene activity (the "work" of our genes) for optimal health and wellbeing.

We study the unique relationship between your genes and your lifestyle and habits. The result of different "environment – gene interactions" depends on your choices. You do not change the structure of the genes, but you modify their "work" (= activity). This is called "Gene Expression". You are continually altering your "Gene Expression" every time you eat, drink, smoke or take part in physical exercises.

Baranova uses Epigenomics to provide a holistic analysis and diagnosis of internal and external interactions to determine the correct personalised Programme for each individual.

Professor Elena Baranova (MD, PhD, HDR) Doctor in Medicine, Doctor in Sciences and EU Commission Expert for Genomics for Health and Personalised Medicine has lived and worked in Europe since 1992 and specifically Monaco, since 2010. She is the President of the European Institute in Personalised Prevention (Monaco) with over 20 years of experience; she is renowned for her advanced knowledge of genomics and unrivalled ability in diagnostics.

Originally from St Petersburg, Russia, she has become one of Europe's leading geneticists and experts in anti-ageing and preventative medicine. Author of different scientific and clinical publications, including three books in the field of genomics, early personalized prevention and its practical applications; she has won many accolades and awards for her pioneering work, including the best scientific paper award (Canada); "Woman of the year for an exceptional career (France); "Mover and Shaker for Spa business (Spa Finder; 2008).
The programmes include the Ultimate VIP Programme and plus specific programmes that focus on Anti-Ageing, Weight Control Management, General Health, Nutrogenomics and Cosmetogenomics.

The Expert System, pioneered by Professor Baranova, performs integrative simultaneous analysis of individual data (lifestyle, nutrition) clinical results, fatigue status, psychological and genetic data providing understanding the synergies of studied factors in relation to each individual.
This is the most popular, comprehensive, service and provides the most efficient and complete programme to modify your diet and lifestyle choices, eliminating negative elements from your life. It is recommended for those suffering from multiple problems such a stress, cardiac problems, low energy, insomnia, depression, weight gain, etc. – a culmination of ailments that are often hard to treat because everyone has varying levels of each contributory factor.

The Ultimate VIP Programme is unique, nothing is left to chance and no factor of your well-being is left undiscovered, leaving you with a new found inner knowledge and confidence in your health. This programme is an amazing combination of all the individual services on offer at Baranova Monaco: Anti-Ageing, Nutrigenomics, Advanced Weight Control, Brain Fitness, Cosmetogenomics and General Health. It is truly transformative for mind, body and soul.

How does the DNA testing work? How does it differ from other programmes? Programme for LIFE provides the one and only evidence-based genomic programme that analyses over 100 gene-gene and 200 genes-environment interactions to provide a holistic understanding of how the body is pre-programmed genetically and how it is adapting and coping with the external factors of your lifestyle. Baranova Programmes and recommendations are not based on single gene testing, which is often the case with other company's analysis.
An all-in-one DNA sample kit for the collection, stabilization, transportation and analysis of DNA from saliva, will be arranged with one of the Baranova Monaco specialists and sent to Baranova Monaco's Laboratory.
The results are sent from the laboratory to Professor Elena Baranova, who personally oversees each project, combining the genetic analysis with the lifestyle questionnaires, enabling her to understand your genetic profile and produce a lifestyle report that is unique to you. In the case of the VIP Programme, Professor Baranova delivers the results in the form of a final consultation, providing you with your own personal road map health and wellbeing.
As a general rule, The Programmes for Life are recommended for anyone at any adult age experiencing reduced concentration capacity, loss of energy, stressful work environments, a lack of sleep, reproductive issues, menopause or other degenerative ailments associated with aging and external factors. Particularly recommended for those over 35 years of age, as this is the point at which gene expression begins to decline. Cosmetogenomics and Nutrigenomics can be performed from 18 years old. How do Baranova Monaco's REGENE PRODUCTS® (food supplements) differ from others on the market and where are they manufactured?

Research has shown that around 95% of food supplements are ineffective, hence not actually contributing a noticeable benefit to the individual taking them because they're simply not what YOUR skin or body needs.

REGENE PRODUCTS® are the result of 20 years of the most advanced genomic research and are a new generation of highly bioactive supplements. These prescriptive or problem specific food supplements represent the unique synergy of essential rare microelements, rare earth trace elements, amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants from natural sources, which influence and optimize gene expression.
This is the first product line really born from genomic science and 10 years of practical consulting experience of Prof. Baranova in the field of personalised prevention and genomics. The products can be used in conjunction with your personalised treatment programme, or purchased individually; they will work in synergy and increase your wellbeing.

REGENE® contains NO Parabens, NO Pesticides, NO Dioxins and NO GMO. They offer the best ingredients for absorption into your body systems. All the ReGene products are made in UE.
It is scientifically proven, we need 2 months to change, optimize and stabilize our gene expression. For this reason, the active (stimulating) phase of our programmes requires approximately 8 weeks. However, it can take longer in cases of chronic fatigue and burn-out syndrome. After the stimulation phase in some cases the "support phase" is requested. It is very variable from person to person depending on age and health status. It is usually applied in cases of cholesterol regulation and vessel health and in some anti-ageing specific programs.
Yes, you can. It is recommended to combine Baranova Monaco REGENE PRODUCTS® with our special Baranova Monaco personalised prevention Programmes for highly effective personalised results. However they are also available to purchase separately, in particular in the presence of some common cases, such as: detox stimulation with strong rejuvenating effect, sleep improvement, anti-fatigue, maintenance of vessel health, skin improvement. It is usually applied in cases with presented symptoms and in persons over 35 years old.
It differs significantly from case to case and depends on your initial health status. Often people start to feel the results of your personalised programme quite quickly, within just 1-2 weeks, as your "Gene Expression" and "Gene Direction" start to alert positively. At your personal consultation with Professor Baranova she will advise you on how and when you will start to notice differences inside and out, and arrange a follow-up appointment to monitor your progress.
The Programme for LIFE is exactly that – a life plan to enhance and be the best that you can be. The one-off fee allows you to unlock the secret genetic codes and gives you the genomic information needed to get your body and mind working in perfect harmony to provide optimum health. Once you have the programme that is designed for you it will feel good and you will want to keep on that path for LIFE. Usually we recommend to repeat the stimulation phase 1-2 times per year (depends on climate, lifestyle and health status), in particular in November/December and February/March.
Professor Baranova is available, by consultation, at her office in Monaco and Clinique Science & Beauté (Antibes) via especially arranged appointment and is also available to consult, by appointment, across Europe. Baranova Monaco services are also available through a network of specialists, internationally.
No. However, it is usually recommended to make a follow-up consultation with Prof. Baranova, or one of our formed specialists, in order to assess progress and update the recommendations. The ideal time for this appointment is October or February, as they are the most appropriate months to re-enforce your gene activity. The current complaints and/ or goals are analysed and updated advice given, where necessary, on nutrition, osteopathic care, anti-stress measures and anti-ageing.
The specific Anti-Ageing programme is designed particularly to help optimise youthful health and appearance. However, all Programmes will increase your health and wellbeing, in turn helping achieve a younger, more radiant appearance. Clients usually notice (depending on the case): anti-fatigue and sleep improvement, skin rejuvenation or anti-acnetic effect and in some particular cases an increase in fertility/pregnancy. People usually describe it in its personal way. One of the client, a 56 years old woman commented, "I started to sing again in the mornings".
No. Over the course of 10 years of consulting there has been no risk effect observed. But the result significantly depends on individual motivation and respect of recommendations. Professor Elena Baranova's proprietary genetic profiling determines your individualised solution, having a complete understanding of your genetic profile and external challenges only will serve to enhance your well- being. There are no side effects of having DNA testing and as this is a personalised and prescriptive programme you will only be recommended regimes and products that provide a unique experience, created exclusively for you, your genetic identity and lifestyle.
